TIFFCOM Japan Content Showcase 2019 (JCS) was finally ended and Javada Film was came back. The event was part of the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) currently taking place in the Land of the Rising Sun.
TIFFCOM hosted a huge number of exhibitors this year, the number of overseas buyers obviously increased and the business scenes that were more international than ever were seen throughout the exhibition, becoming the most attractive market in Asia. TIFF provides a platform in Tokyo for networking with the world film industries, developing international co-productions, and promoting the global film business.
JAVADA FILM presented an attractive Film Selection. The company made a Selection of Bulgarian and Iranian films, separated in a few categories: Feature, Documentary, Short and Projects in a preproduction stage.
A special space for student projects was set up in the catalog and at the Javada Film`s Booth.
One of the company’s mission is to support young talents and creators. They had the opportunity to show their films to some of the biggest producers on the Asian Market.
During the exhibition a large number of producers and distributors from China, USA, Japan, Korea, Thailand and others were surprised and interested of the quality of Bulgarian and Iranian Cinema. Negotiations have begun for the distribution of several Bulgarian films in Asia, as well as Iranian films for Cinemas worldwide, TV products and Short Films, also.
“This was the first participation for Bulgaria and JAVADA FILM on this Forum and the huge interest to the Eastern European Cinema was exceptional,” said Mr. Daneshvar after his return from Tokyo.
The interest for The “Action” Film by Theo Chepilov (screenwriter) and Radoslav Iliev (Director) were great during the meetings with Asian producers and Distributors.
DOP of “Action” is Borislav Penchev, who has worked on projects such as Prison Break, The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Once Upon a Time, Minority Report and Supernatural.
“ACTION!” tells the story of three kids with a common dream. They want to create the greatest film of their favorite action series. Fate intervenes in their lives. In a road accident they inadvertently destroyed car full of drugs. They have to find urgently huge amount of money to compensate the bad guys, who are the owners of the goods. The three are committing an unimaginable crime. They kidnap the tape of a Hollywood movie being filmed in Bulgaria and demand a ransom from the producers. In the ensuing series of tragic and comic situations, the boys manage to get into such great trouble that the Bulgarian, Russian, Jewish and Japanese Mafia pursue them vigorously and the police is also after them
The movie will be officially presented at the end of January 2020, but has already been screened at several award-winning festivals.
In the selection of Javadа Film, there were several other projects.
These are the documentaries from Iran – Salt Dome and Mystical Paradise, as well as the director Vilma Kartalska`s film “My Gypsy Road” – an inspiring story about the winding road of the first Roma actress in Bulgaria, officially graduated from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts.The film is set to be completed in 2020 and has been financially supported by Program Debuts of National Culture Fund – Bulgaria, and New Bulgarian University.
At TIFFCOM 2019 were well presented also the documentaries “The Chiprovtsi Carpet”, “Baba Marta” (with director Mariana Tancheva), “One Minute Off” by Krasimira Dukovska, and a specially made Documentary about the cultural heritage of Sozopol – “Under the Sands of Sozopol”.
In the coming months, the travels of Bulgarian and Iranian Cinema continue – to India, Berlin, Hong Kong and, of course, Marché du Film, Cannes in May 2020.
